Understand Labrador Grooming And Stop That Shedding

How Often Do Labradors Shed?
The first time Labradors shed is through their transition period. The period comes when a puppy Labrador is transformed into an adult Labrador. It sheds its puppy coat to give way to the adult coat. These puppy coats are shed from their body and thus the adult coat will replace them.
Every year, a Labrador sheds twice. During these shedding seasons, they are shedding off their old hair to give way to the new set of coat. This is also the time when you will see a lot of dog hairs around the house. It is normal. Just clean it up with a vacuum. When shedding season is over, everything is back to normal so you and your Labs can play all day long.
To free yourself from the hassle of too much dog hair around you, groom your Labrador properly. Brushing your Labrador’s hair every week will greatly help in reducing excessive shedding. Have a comb and brush specifically for your Labs and keep them away when not in use. Every week, at least once, take time to brush your dog’s hair and vacuum it afterwards.
Some say, bathing is necessary to increase grooming. Well, it does apply to most dogs but as for a Labrador, bathe only when necessary. Shampooing is also not advisable as these may contain chemicals that can be harmful to your Labrador. If you want to clean them up always, let them swim in the water. They will love it.
